Abrahamic Family House

Abrahamic Family House is an extraordinary institution in Abu Dhabi, which brings together a mosque, multi-denominational church, and the UAE’s first purpose-built synagogue within a single site.

I led Barker Langham’s work to help plan a new tour for visitors and to crystalise the way AFH presents and explains itself to visitors.

Planning and writing the tour was a wonderful challenge.

Logistically, it was critical to shape an itinerary sensitive to the needs of three functioning places of worship.

Creatively, it took meticulous work to weave together architectural interpretation, local history, and stories evoking the shared roots of the three faiths, all the while taking into account the site’s tremendous religious and political sensitivity.
